As funky radioshows are broadcasted all over the world on several radiostations, not everyone has a chance to listen or hear those shows. That’s why we’re very greatful for the person who invented podcasting. Most of the shows are free downloads, on which you can subscribe via iTunes.

We’d like to give you some tips concerning shows we think you should have a listen to.
If you’re subscribed to a good show that doesn’t appear in our list, please let us know so we can add your suggestions.

Classics: Julien Jabre – Swimming Places

28-year old Parisian, Julien Jabre was a hip hop fan at just 13. He turned towards house music out of curiosity as the aggressive style of hip hop and rap, meant he didn’t feel that close to the music. At 16 he began listening to ‘A Deep Groove’, the cult programme on FG Radio presented by DJ Gregory, Alex from Tokyo and DJ Deep, who Julien really wanted to meet. Julien ended up meeting and getting on so well with DJ Gregory, he was asked to present the radio show while he was away in New York. Although he was terrified, Julien’s first on-air mix really impressed DJ Deep. He started working with DJ Gregory in his studio. At the same time as the famous TGV club nights, supported by DJ Deep and DJ Gregory, Julien threw himself into all kinds of work, DJing, composing as well as producing. He always uses his sensitivity to find a new form of sensual, beat-driven music fit for clubs. His first collaboration with DJ Gregory, under the name “Fantom” was “Faithfull” which had great success on vinyl and CD. Julien was 19 and had finished studying sound engineering which gave him enough skill to be able to produce and mix all his own music in the future.

New Sweet Coffee album out now!

As we have Belgian roots, we must admit that we’re very proud to announce the release of the new Sweet Coffee album. Face to Face is already number four in line, but after having listened to all tracks, we have a strong ‘this is just the beginning’ feeling for Sweet Coffee.
This time, no less than six female singers were asked to sing some heavenly tunes for their new album. Each one with her own and specific sound. The former lead vocalist Bibi Diabokua left the band, but we get loads of different styles in return.
U-Turn was the first single of this album, but Daylight seems to overclass the success of U-Turn already. And there’s more to come…

On February 25th, Sweet Coffee presented Face to Face in the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels. Check the video report (in Dutch).

Listen to some samples of the new album beneath.

Face to Face is now available in stores and on iTunes.

Recordbag 12.02.2010

As we were filling our own recordbag for tommorow’s afternoon radioshow, we’ve selected the following tracks:

  • The Jinks – What happened to us (original): a nice track for starting the show, easy down-time listening music but the Jinks keep producing very strong tracks time after time…
  • DJ Chus & Rob Mirage – Back 2 NYE (original mix): really feeling the deephouse vibe while spinning this one. DJ Chus is back!

South Street Player – (Who) Keeps changing your mind (Daniel Bovie & Roy Rox remix): Daniel Bovie and Roy Rox keep remixing as if their lives depend on it. And we love it, this is peak-time stuff!

The Heller & Farley Project featuring Cevin Fisher – We built this house (Fire Island remix):
Do we have to introduce mister Pete Heller? We don’t think so… a new collaboration with Cevin Fisher and it’s a goody!

Dennis Ferrer – Hey Hey (TDN re-edit):
Dennis Ferrer’s “Hey Hey” is once again a nasty club and radiohit, but the (so far) unreleased Tom de Neef re-edit mix, makes the track just that bit more powerfull without changing it too much. We’ve received a promotional copy but release this one a.s.a.p.!

If you want to share your personal recordbag with us, just send us an e-mail with your favourite 5 tracks of this moment.
